This session will provide important information about The Updated D75 Science Scope & Sequence Guide for Alternately Assessed Students. We will review the purpose, structure, and components of this guide. We will also explore sample unit resources for the various grade bands. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss implementation and adaptation of lessons and to address their questions and concerns. Information about Professional Learning on the content and implementation of the Scope and Sequence units will be shared.

This session will provide important information about the NEW NYS 5th & 8th Grade Science Tests and the NYS Science Investigations required prior to testing (for Standardized Students). We will review the specific investigations needed, ordering details, teaching guidelines, and important resources. We will also address your questions and concerns. Information about upcoming Professional Learning on the content and implementation of the Required Investigations will be shared.

Technology News

The STEM Department at District 75 is dedicated to providing students with the best possible education in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. Our projects are designed to challenge and inspire students at all levels and we are excited to offer a new program starting this week called 3D World, which teaches valuable soft skills while immersing students in a fun and engaging environment.

 

Lego League Professional Development Series​

​

  • Course 1 - 12/7 - Introducing Robotics

    • Starting with physical coding lessons, Code & Go Mouse, Ozobots, Code-a-Pillar, Makey Makey, into unplugged code.org activities. This course is geared towards those who have never taught computational thinking or need a refresher on this concept​

  • Course 2 - 12/8 - Prerequisites: Attended Course 1 or already Teaching Programming

    • Jump into Lego Kits to explore and organize our thoughts on what Lego League will look like for your classroom. Explore the options and modifiers, accommodations that work best so all can participate.​​

  • Course 3 - 2/8 - Finalizing Project

    • Discuss what has worked and what has not worked when it comes to following along in our workbooks. Preview the next few lessons in the book to discuss how it will look and give time to lesson plan. Come to the meeting to discuss final projects and how it can be done more effectively, efficiently, or brought to the next level by adding additional moving parts or hubs
